For the 2 million new veterans that are involved in the Global War on Terror, Vision-2-Victory has created a one-of-a-kind tribute, organizers say.

The Wall of Remembrance is a two-sided wall that stands 6-feet tall and is 94-feet long. One side lists the names of the victims of 9/11 and the names of those that made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror.

The other side depicts the global war on terror in a timeline, beginning in 1983 with the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon.

"As the museum is responsible for telling the story of the North Platte Canteen in World War II, this wall is a perfect fit," Museum Director Jim Griffin said. "Hopefully, this wall will bring into perspective the magnitude of our country’s fight against terrorism, while remembering all those who have given their lives to protect our freedom."

The wall can be visited from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, June 7 through June 8 and on Sunday from noon-5 p.m.

“We were pleased and excited,” Griffin said. “It’s truly an awesome presentation.”

The memorial display is touring Nebraska this week with previous stops in Lincoln and York.

The display, as well as the rest of the Heritage festival, is free of charge.
