The North Platte Community College men’s basketball team’s Eric Richardson has signed with the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky.
Richardson started 18 games for the Knights and helped the team to a school record 30 wins and a Region IX Championship. Richardson averaged 5.1 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field to go along with 3.5 rebounds.
Richardson had season highs of 14 points against Casper College and 11 rebounds against Northwest Kansas Tech.
Richardson was also a key part of the Knights Region IX Championship victory over Otero Junior College as he scored 4 points in the final four minutes to give the Knights their first lead of the game, a lead they would not relinquish.
Richardson joins a Bears team that is coming off a birth in the NAIA Division I National Tournament after finishing with a 26-7 record. Pikeville won the NAIA Division I National Championship in 2011.
“Eric was an important part of our Region IX Championship Team,” said head coach Kevin O’Connor. “He made a large impact on our program in the one year he was a Knight and we wish him the best of luck at the University of Pikeville.”
