Deadline approaching for chemigation permitsTell North Platte what you think

Agriculture producers are required by state law to have an annual chemigation permit from their Natural Resources District for each irrigation system that applies fertilizer, pesticide or other agricultural chemicals.

June 1 is the annual deadline for chemigation renewal permits to be returned to the Natural Resources District office, with the $10 renewal fee. Permits not renewed on time are considered by state chemigation statutes to be new permits, which cost $30 each and require a district inspection of the anti-pollution equipment prior to injection.

New chemigation permit applications can be received by the Natural Resources District at any time.

However, Natural Resources District personnel must inspect new permit systems before chemigation occurs.

Renewal permit systems will also inspected on a regular basis by the Natural Resources District personnel, said Bill Carhart of the Twin Platte Natural Resources District.
