A 2012 Chrysler sedan drove into the front of the Dollar Tree store in North Platte Tuesday, after the driver missed the brake when he tried to step on it.

Ernest Lehmkuhler, 75, said he was pulling into a parking space directly in front of the store when his foot missed the brake.

Lehmkuhler told a policeman that he didn't hit the gas pedal.

The Chrysler sustained an estimated $4,000 in damages and the store was hurt to the tune of $8,000, according to the police report.

Ardis Lehmkuhler, who was in the car, possibly injured her back but did not require transportation to the hospital, according to the report.

The impact cracked cement blocks at the base of the Dollar Tree wall.

Lehmkuler narrowly missed a handicapped parking sign.
