Dominic Hinojosa

In August, Dominic Hinojosa of North Platte was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was surgically removed in October, but by March, it had returned.

Hinojosa, 23, is now scheduled for a more invasive, lengthy surgery on June 20 at the Mayo Clinic, followed by radiation.

To help defray medical costs, donation jars have been placed around town and a fundraising lunch will be held from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at the Cody Park shelter.

Hinojosa has medical insurance coverage but faces high deductible and co-payments, his mother Chawna Treat said.

Hinojosa is an employee at Cashway a 2008 graduate of North Platte High School, where he was active in athletics as well as choir.

A donation account has also been established at Nebraskaland National Bank.
