Justin W. Valentine
Justin Valentine, 24, of North Platte, was sentenced Monday to 245 days in the county jail with credit for 130 days served.
Lincoln County District Judge Richard Birch said he agreed with the recommendations in a pre-sentence investigation as he added two years of probation to the sentence.
Valentine was convicted April 22 on two counts of terroristic threats for firing a gun in the direction of another person, followed by a standoff with police that started around 3:30 a.m. Jan. 19.
Police were called to the 400 block of So. Chestnut on a report of gunfire.
Witnesses said Valentine fired a rifle two times in the direction of another person after he had an argument with his domestic partner, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.
Officers found Valentine inside the house but he refused to open the door. The house was secured and put under surveillance for about an hour and a half, when an officer finally entered and Valentine was arrested without any more trouble.
Valentine accepted a deal with the county attorney’s office and pled no contest to the charges.
