Mother, son injured in collision Tell North Platte what you think
 

A mother and son were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after a violent automobile collision in the intersection of First and Sherman, a couple blocks west of North Platte High School.

Katie L Haugen, 18, was headed east on First in her 2012 Honda Pilot, according to a police report. Haugen failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a southbound 2005 Silverado pickup driven by Allyn M. McKinzie, 34.

Both cars were totaled and had to be towed away, the report said. The collision occured about 5 p.m.

McKinzie and Ethan McKinzie, 9, were taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center.

A witness said that Haugen ran the stop sign and McKinzie was “driving at a high rate of speed,” according to the report.
