The North Platte Community College Department of Theatre is offering a course this summer on filmmaking.
The class, THEA 2180: Introduction to Filmmaking, will meet from 2-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday from June 10-July 3.
The course will introduce students to theories and practices involved in the pre-production phase (budgeting, finalizing shooting script, design conceptions), production (rehearsing, shooting, lighting, sound), and post-production (film editing, sound editing) of filmmaking.
Students will work through a combination of instruction, reading, research, and practical application by producing a short film.
“Students of all ages are encouraged to register for this class that will introduce even a novice to filmmaking with the skills needed to create a film,” said NPCC Theater Instructor Ritch Galvan. “The class will create a short narrative film that will be entered in to regional film festivals. Previous films created in the course have won awards.”
