Lady Knights volleyball sign Colorado recruitsTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team announced the signing of Taylor King and Abby Kurtzer of Fleming, Colo.

Both girls played for coaches Derek Herbert and Doug Kamery who have had 13 girls sign to play college volleyball in the last seven years.

King and Kurtzer led the Fleming Wildcats to a 20-9 record and a semifinal appearance in the 2012 Colorado IA State Volleyball Championships.

King will play an outside hitter for the Lady Knights. King had 337 kills and 419 digs for the Wildcats.

"When I went up for the visit I was pretty set on going somewhere else. But I just fell in love," said King. "It was so much closer and the girls were very welcoming and the coach was unbelievably welcoming and I just knew it was the place for me."

Kurtzer will play several positions for the Lady Knights. Kurtzer had 270 kills and 209 digs for the Wildcats.

"It was a really hard decision for me, but I really felt like it was a better fit for me," Kurtzer said. "I liked the setting with the team and with the classroom, as well."

“We are very excited to add two great competitors and winners that come from a great program and a winning program,” said head coach Sally Thalken. “We are excited to welcome them to North Platte Community College and our volleyball program.”
