A man is in jail for strangulation and a series of crimes, after he was arrested late Wednesday night.

At around 11:45 p.m., police went to Motel 6, 1520 S. Jeffers, on the report of a domestic disturbance, police information officer Rodney Brown said.

The staff on duty at the motel said Zachariah Tinajera, 22 and his 23-year-old domestic partner were causing a disturbance in their room.

Officers found their motel room in disarray, with damage to the walls, Brown said.

Brown said the investigators discovered that Tinajera and the woman had an argument that turned physical. He attacked her, choking her and banging her head on the floor.

Tinajera was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

Brown said that Zachariah became non-compliant at some point, and would not follow the officer’s orders or answer questions that came from the jail staff. His arguments and belligerence earned him another charge -- obstructing a police officer.

In all, Tinajera faces five charges: strangulation, third-degree domestic assault, distrubing the peace, criminal mischief, and obstructing an officer.
