North Platte advances early in the game

For the second straight year, the North Platte High School girls' soccer team lost the district final match on its home field in a shootout.

The teams battled in the cold, snow and ice to a scoreless tie in regulation. Millard West won the battle, 1-0, in a shootout.

NPHS coach Sarah Kaminski was fighting back tears after the game, as she stated how proud she was of her team.

"It was a hard-fought game," she said. "The girls played hard and did everything they needed to do. It was too bad that it came to a shootout."

North Platte established itself as one of the best teams in the state, finishing with a 12-3 record.
