Edwin L. Imler
A Gothenburg man is in jail for allegedly stealing parts of a wire trencher from a rural area near Brady, the Lincoln County Sheriff's office said Thursday. Deputies investigated the reported theft on April 25 in the area of Wahlgren and Banner Roads southeast of Brady.
The victim said that a trencher was missing parts, and nearly 600 feet of wire on a spool was also missing. The value of the missing items was more than $2,500, according to a sheriff's statement.
Deputies found a Nebraska driver’s license at the scene of the theft that was issued to Edwin L. Imler, 37, of Gothenburg.
The victim of the theft did not know Imler, according to the sheriff's statement.
A warrant for Imler's arrest was issued in Dawson County on a previous charge of failure to pay. Imler turned up in North Platte Wednesday, where he was arrested by police.
When Imler was questioned, he said he did not remember taking the items, but said he was in the area during the time of the theft, according to the sheriff's statement.
Imler was charged with felony theft and put into the Lincoln County Jail.
