New director hired at Housing AuthorityTell North Platte what you think

J.D. Bennett of Lamar, Colo. will become the executive director of the North Platte Housing Authority, succeeding Ed Greenwood, who is retiring.

Ms. Bennett has a long work history with housing authorities. She started as an Executive Director of Original Town of Liberal Revitalization in Liberal, Kan. Following that, she was Executive Director of the Housing Authority in the city of Lamar. Later she was director of housing at pueblo of Jemez, N.M. and more recently as a consulting executive director for the Taos County Housing Authority in Taos, N.M.

Greenwood has directed the housing authority since August 2009.

Dan Mauk, the chairman of the North Platte Housing Authority, announced Bennett's hiring.

Bennett will take over the direction of the Housing Authority as soon as she can transition from Lamar to North Platte, Mauk said.

“We are excited to have someone of Ms. Bennett’s background and experience to work with us," Mauk said. "We are pleased with her background and energy to work with the residents of the Housing Authority.”

Bennett is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA degree in Developmental Human Resource Management. She is a candidate for a master’s degree in Social Science and Public Administration at the University of Colorado–Denver.

Bennett also is an owner of Equine Breeding Farm that she pursues as a hobby, Mauk said.
