On Friday, police officers were called to a home in 100 block of West Ninth on a report of a burglary.

Two people who lived there saaid they came home to find Tonya Fuentes, 25, in their house, filling a bag with groceries and alcohol.

When confronted, Fuentes said her sister lived in the house, but investigators said her sister was not present and no one had given Tonya permission to enter the house and take items.

But by the time police were called, Tonya had left. About an hour later at 11:33 p.m., officers were called to 1100 N. Bailey about a disturbance in the street. Fuentes was one of the participants in the disturbance, which involved two people yelling at each other, Police Spokesman Rodney Brown said.

Fuentes was arrested for disturbing the peace and also charged with the previous burglary. Bond is set at $25,000.

Also on Friday, police met with a school counselor after a 10-year-old student was found with a bump on her head.

The following night, investigators learned there was a disturbance at the girl’s home, which involved the girl, the girl’s 16-year-old brother and their father.

After interviewing both children, police found probable cause to arrest Kevin Hawkins, 36, for felony child abuse.
