The North Platte High School girls' soccer team tuned up for districts by finishing the regular season on Friday with an 8-0 win over Scottsbluff at Bauer Field."The girls are where they need to be as far as their confidence and perseverance is concerned," said NPHS coach Sarah Kaminski. "They're ready for districts."
Kaysee Lewis scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute when she put one in on a cross from Taylor Banark from the left side of the field.
About a minute later, it became 2-0 when Maggie Bianco crossed a pass from the right side. Scottsbluff goalie Livvy Michael stopped the ball but couldn't control it. The rebound fell to Hannah Wilke who put it in.
Later in the first half, Banark scored the next two goals to give North Platte (11-2) a 4-0 lead at halftime.
"I guess you could say that our signature is our passing," Kaminski said. "We're getting better and better with it heading into districts."
Bianco scored the next two goals early in the second half to make it 6-0. Lewis and Banark notched the last two goals in the win over the Bearcats (4-9).
On Monday, the Lady Dawgs host districts and will play Omaha Bryan at Bauer Field in the semifinals.
