Legislature: Climate change bill Tell North Platte what you think

Nebraska lawmakers advanced a bill Tuesday that would require a climate change report that identifies long-term climate projections and recommendations.

The bill advanced on a 35-0 vote with amendments. One amendment ensures that the bill reflected the ever changing weather of Nebraska rather than the emphasis on global warming that many senators felt was in the original bill.

The other amendment eliminated the voting rights of the member that comes from a University of Nebraska-Lincoln climate change center. The amendment makes that member only an adviser to the group.
