Patricia Carson, 23, of North Platte was sentenced Monday to up to three years in the Women’s Correctional Facility at York.

Carson was convicted of 3 counts of conditional release violations and 3 counts of failure to appear.

Carson has a long history of arrests for writing bad checks.

Her record shows five counts of bad checks and one count of forgery. She has also been jailed for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and charged with three counts of theft.

Chief Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Tanya Roberts-Connick said Carson “has been given all the breaks possible at this point and has violated them all. She has spent time in jail in Iowa and Nebraska. She has violated her probations in Nebraska and even walked away from treatment.”

Defense attorney Michael Nozicka told the court, “From all the time in jail in Iowa and Nebraska, Patricia has a different perspective on her life and a penitentiary sentence would be too much.”

Rowlands cited her long history of arrests and failed probations as he handed down the sentence.

Rowlands also sentenced her to 106 days in county jail on one count of conditional release violation, but also gave her credit for 106 days served.

While Roberts-Connick was speaking to the court, Carson stood with a defiant attitude. Once her sentence was handed down, she looked downtrodden and teary-eyed.
