The 12th annual Walk for Life in North Platte to benefit the Women’s Resource Center will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
Registration begins at 8:30 am. The Walk will start at the Women’s Resource Center in the Parkade Plaza and continue through downtown and around the courthouse.
The Walk For Life is one of two annual fundraisers that provide for the financial needs of the center. The WRC receives no local, state, or government funding. It depends on businesses, organizations and individuals in the community.
Without community support, the center would not have been able to handle nearly 1,300 client visits in 2012 -- a 149 percent increase from just five years ago, Woods said.
“ We are here reaching out to offer hope, love, truth and tangible support to those whose lives are rocked by an unplanned pregnancy. We invite you to join us in serving our great community,” Woods said.
The services of the WRC are provided free to clients.
Area churches have begun promoting the Walk for Life. Also, walks will be held in Hershey on April 28, Stapleton on May 4,, and in Arnold on May 6.
