A new full-size park complete with soccer fields on the south side of North Platte is expected to grow from a fence that will be built around the playground at Osgood Elementary.
Sampson Construction Co., Inc. in partnership with Aero Fence, is donating the materials and labor for the $15,000, 1,000-foot fence, which will serve as a perimeter for the school playground.
Work on the fence begins Friday.
This donation launches "Project: Building Dreams" to benefit the area south of North Platte that organizes say is underserved by recreational facilities, as well as the wider community.
Through fundraising, grants, donations and various resources, a diverse playground is planned with a safe play zone near the North Platte trail system, with state of the art equipment, soccer fields, an open grass field and potentially, adult fitness stations.
Sampson Construction has enjoyed working in the North Platte community and watching its growth throughout the past decades, said Jodi Lowe of the Osgood parents and teachers organization. Giving back to the community is something that the firm feels a responsibility about, Lowe said.
Currently, Sampson is in charge of the expansion of Great Plains Regional Medical Center and the company recently completed the public transit “bus barn” for the city.
Lowe said Osgood Elementary parents and staff are grateful for the benefits this fence provides, with safety being at the top of the list.
