Chelsey Mackey, 18, of Ogallala is held on $100,000 bond after she allegedly assaulted a police officer at the hospital.

Deputy County Attorney Austen Leighty said Thursday in court that the injured officer suffered a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula. He will require surgery and will be off work for at least six months, Leighty said.

Mackey is held on a $100,000 bond.

According to court records, the North Platte Police were called to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center around 11 a.m. Friday on the report of a combative woman who was out of control. When an officer attempted to restrain Mackey in the emergency room, she struggled and injured the officer’s ankle.

Mackey also did an estimated $500 worth of damage to hospital property, according to court records.

In court Thursday, Defense Attorney Amanda Speichert said she plans to file a motion to have Mackey evaluated for competency to stand trial.
