The view at Sutherland I-80 interchange, 1:15 p.m. Thursday

Westbound I-80 remained closed Thursday afternoon west of Sidney due to severe driving conditions.

In North Platte, it will be cold overnight Thursday and somewhat warmer Friday.

The forecast:

Thursday afternoon -- Chances of snow will evaporate and the high near 34 with a north-northwest wind 21-28 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1-2 inches possible.

Thursday night -- Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Blustery, with a north-northwest wind 19-24 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Gusts as high as 33 mph.

Friday -- Sunny, with a high near 49 with a northwest wind 13-17 mph increasing in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph.

Friday Night -- mostly cloudy, a low around 29. Northwest wind 6-11 mph becoming light and variable.

Saturday -- 20 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. South southeast wind 6-10 mph, becoming southwest in the afternoon.
