Ethen M. Bentley, 21, of North Platte was arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with the shooting of a North Platte man who turned up at the hospital early in the morning April 11.

Bentley is the third man arrested in the case.

The police learned of the shooting when an investigator was called to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center around 1 a.m. April 11 on the report of a gunshot victim. The 30-year-old victim said he was shot in the left leg by another man that he did not know while he was running away from a parked car near the 1700 block of N. Franklin, police information officer Rodney Brown said.

The wound was not life threatening.

Meanwhile in another part of town, police found a car that was believed to be involved in the shooting. Brown said the car was in the area of Oak and West Second and police chased it briefly west on Third to near the intersection of Third and Adams, where three occupants fled on foot.

Brown initially said officers were able to apprehend all three men, but later he said that the third man, Bentley, was not arrested that night.

He said police were unable to find him until Tuesday morning around 1 a.m., when they found him waiting at the North Platte bus stop (1801 S. Jeffers).

Brown said officers watched as Bentley left that area and headed north. They stopped him while he was on the South River Bridge.

Bentley was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln County Court and formally charged with attempted robbery, accessory to a felony and false reporting.

His bond was set at $100,000.

Police have not said what was stolen.

Two other North Platte men -- Britton Renfrow, 21 and Matthew Bobo, 28 -- were arrested April 11 and jailed. Renfrow was initially charged with attempted murder, but that charge was reduced to second-degree assault. He is also charged with possessing a defaced firearm, using a firearm to commit a felony, attempted robbery and possession of a controlled substance - oxycoton.

Bobo was initially charged with being an accessory to attempted murder, but that charge was reduced before he appeared in court for arraignment. He faces charges of attempted robbery, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a controlled substance - meth.

Both Renfrow and Bobo are held on $500,000 bonds.
