At around 1:40 a.m. Monday, North Platte police stopped a GMC van for erratic driving near Ninth and N. Curtis.

The driver, 26-year-old Peter Bailey, initially provided a fictitious name to the officers and while they were searching the other three passengers, Bailey attempted to run away.

He was quickly caught and restrained. A search of the vehicle revealed several items often used in the comsumption of methamphetamine, Police Information Officer Rodney Brown said.

Brown said Bailey was also in possession of the controlled prescription drug, Clonezepam.

Following further investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Bailey on a bevy of charges -- two counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, false reporting, obstructing a police officer, and for absconding-parole violation. Bailey was jailed.

Another passenger, Amie Jackson, 37, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She too was jailed. The other two male passengers were released, Brown said.
