Athletes and musicians make astronomical amounts of money, Rock said recently in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. "People get paid $100 million to throw a baseball!” he said. “Shouldn't we all take less and pass some of that money onto others?"

With that in mind, Kid Rock is making every ticket on his July-September tour with Kool and the Gang, ZZ Top and Uncle Kracker cost just $20, regardless if the seat is in the back or front.

Rock stars are so overpaid it's ridiculous, he said, citing upcoming appearances by the Rolling Stones, where prime seats will cost as much as $650.

He said he’s been trying for years to figure out how to fix the concert industry.

Kid Rock also said it costs his show $125,000 per performance to show up “with our crew and whatnot.”

He admits he has no idea whether his cut-rate plan will actually work, which will make the shows a little nerve-racking.

"It could be a really rough summer if it doesn't work out," he said.

Kid Rock will be will perform in North Platte June 21 during Nebraskaland Days. General admission tickets are $59 in the smaller capacity Wild West Arena. Special guests Lee Brice and Thomas Rhett will open the show. Brice recently charted his third No. 1 country music hit from the same album, “I Drive Your Truck."

Kid Rock's reduced price tour begins June 28 with Kool and the Gang in Bristow, Va. and continues with ZZ Top July 28 through Sept. 15 in Tampa.
