Yasmin and Cheryl

Mrs. Cheryl Jewell has been a consistent mentor for the North Platte TeamMates Program. Cheryl and her mentee Yasmin have been matched for quite awhile.

It was a great friendship from the start, Teammates spokesman Jeremy Sedlacek said.

Jewell has been happily married for more than 42 years, with three children and six grandchildren. She enjoys challenging herself in workouts, and loves to go out to the links and play golf.

Cheryl also enjoys relaxing while watching movies or reading a good book, and being a TeamMates mentor because kids are her favorite people. She says it feels great to make a child’s day.

Yasmin attends North Platte St. Patrick’s High School. She is an 11th grade and involved with art club and band. Yasmin strives to continue getting good grades with the desire to attend college and become a successful phlebotomist someday.

Every once in awhile when Yasmin has had a bad day, she will hang out with Cheryl and by the end of their time together Yasmin has a smile on her face and is ready to face new challenges.

The ladies believe their friendship has blossomed because they have much in common with each other. Both of them are very friendly and outgoing. They cherish their time together and love to just hang out.
