The North Platte Community College men’s basketball team announced Thursday the signing of Omaha North’s Aireon Porter and Omaha South’s Cameron Williams to Letters of Intent to play basketball with the Knights.
Aireon Porter joins the Knights after having a stellar senior season that saw the 6-7 forward average a double-double. Porter was fifth in scoring in Class A at 16.4 points per game and third in rebounding at 11.7.
Porter was named to the second-team Class A All-State Team. Porter was a two sport athlete at Omaha North where he was a defensive end on the 2012 Class A State runner-up Vikings.
Cameron Williams joins the Knights after leading his team to a third-place finish in the 2013 Class A State Tournament after a runner-up finish in 2012.
The 6-0 guard was fourth in the state in scoring at 17.2 points per game after leading his team to a 25-4 record. Williams was named to the Nebraska Super-State first-team as a senior after being on the second-team as a junior.
In the state tournament against North Platte High School, Williams scored 12 points in the Packers' first-round victory over the Bulldogs.
“We are excited to have two fine young men joining our program from the state of Nebraska,” said head coach Kevin O’Connor. “Cameron brings athleticism and scoring ability to our backcourt after having a great two year run at Omaha South. Aireon brings size and a high skill level to our frontcourt after being a standout two sport athlete at Omaha North.”
