Temperature approaches record lowTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte temperature dipped nearly to a record-low Tuesday, approaching the all-time low for April 9 of 14 degrees in 1982.

The temperature was 17 degrees shortly before noon at North Platte Regional Airport, the National Weather Service said. By early evening, the temperature had climbed to 19.

The wind chill fell wasw zero in North Platte Tuesday morning, thanks to 20-30 mph winds.


The winter storm is forecast to continue all day Wednesday with strong winds, bitter temperatures and snow, the weather service said.

From 2-5 inches of new snow are predicted in North Platte.

Winds will blow from 20-30 miles an hour through the night, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

The situation will be much the same through Wednesday, keeping wind chills around zero.

Winds are forecast to diminish Thursday to around 15 mph, with a high in the upper 30s, the weather service said.
