Wilson's mangled pickup

A 76-year-old Maywood man lost control of his pickup west of North Platte Tuesday night, wrecked it and was trapped inside.

Investigators suspect alcohol was involved, the Lincoln County Sheriff's office said.

Around 8 p.m., deputies were called to the wreck about a half mile west of Front Road on Highway 30 (mile marker 169.)

They said Willis Wilson was westbound when he drove off the road to the north, overcorrected, crossed the highway, slid into the south ditch and rolled one time.

Wilson was trapped inside and had to be extricated by a rescue crew from North Platte.

He was taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center for treatment and later transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney for more treatment, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies and rescue workers believed alcohol was involved in the accident. Charges may be filed pending blood test results, the statement said.
