Members of Region III’s Nebraska State Quilt Guild will have a “Galaxy of Quilts” gathering for both new quilters and veteran quilters on Saturday, April 13 at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe.
Admission is free and open to the public. Opportunities abound to visit with fellow quilters, learn some new quilting tips and register for the door prizes. The day begins with coffee and registration from 8:30-9:30 a.m., with lunch available for purchase by those who register by 9:30 a.m.
The morning consists of round-robin sessions on a number of topics including Redwork Embroidery with MeriKay Berg; Labeling Your Quilt Creations with Bernita Brin; Border Tips with Marty Kleppinger and Easy Paper Piecing with Gretchen Kubik of Wagner’s Quilts & Conversation.
Julia Schroeder, Nebraska’s Coordinator for QOV, will give a presentation on Quilts of Valor at 10:30 a.m.
Participants for the day are encouraged to bring their “star,” “space,” or “Out of This World” quilts to share during the Show and Tell session scheduled to round out the morning.
After lunch, the Nebraska State Quilt Guild President Alice Cruz of Omaha, and Friends of the International Quilt Study Center representative Diann Sorensen of North Platte will give a short presentation.
The afternoon session features “Our Quilt Journey,” a Trunk Show, by Karen Ruwe of Fremont and Sheri Ruwe of Hooper, creators and makers of COSMOS, the 2013 Nebraska State Quilt Guild Raffle Quilt.
The 2013 quilt will be on display during the day at Arapahoe.
