Pet owners in North Platte can check with a pet food pantry if they are having a hard time feeding their animals.
The North Platte Pet Food Pantry offers a hand up, not a hand out and strives to feed family pets that may otherwise end up in the animal shelter or be abandoned because their family cannot afford to feed them, organizers say.
One donation helped feed some Huskies when the owner's hours were cut at work, according to the North Platte Pet Food Pantry.
Donations typically come from extra pet foods. For instance, one donor had canned food that her dog couldn't handle, so she donated it.
Another donation is coming from Omaha. As of Thursday afternoon, pantry organizers were looking for someone who could bring it to North Platte from Kearney.
The pantry's facebook page is HERE.
If you have extra pet food, you can drop it at 1705 W. 9th. It is a porch drop off and will be taken directly to a storage unit, organizer Jenn Porter said.
Recipients fill out applications for assistance.
