City Council: Short meetingTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte city council voted 7-0 Tuesday to approve a resolution to close the portion of U.S. Highway 83 that passes through downtown during the NebraskaLand Days parade.

The council must approve the resolution for the parade each year, in a joint agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads.

Also, from the consent agenda, the council voted 7-0 to send the application of Molly Freeze as liquor license manager at Whiskey Creek to the Liquor Control Commission with no recommendation, as is their standard practice.

Councilman Martin Steinbeck was absent Tuesday as was City Manager Jim Hawks. Hawks was attending a conference in Mississippi.

It was one of the shortest council meetings on record, lasting just 12 minutes.
