Arinna Rector, 9 months, waves a colorful hand.

A record number of volunteers turned out Thursday for the annual Easter egg decorating party at North Platte's VFW Post 1504.

Literally hundreds of volunteers, ranging from 9-months-old and older, came to help color the eggs, which will be scattered around Cody Park for the annual city wide hunt on Saturday.

Organizer Carrie Griesfeller said this year’s crowd was the biggest turn out they had ever had to help get the eggs ready for the big day.

Tables were stacked with carriers holding the 13,380 hard boiled eggs and buckets of dye for kids and parents alike to drop the eggs into.

In a matter of 25 minutes all of the eggs (and children) were dyed with gusto and laughter.

All's well that ends well, and the children even volunteered to help with the cleanup.

The Easter Egg hunt at Cody Park will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday. Children ages nine and younger are welcome to join the hunt.
