Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling asked for jail time.

Defense attorney Michael Nozicka said only one codeine pill was found, not enough to suspect intent to sell drugs.

“But it is true Marquez did not have a prescription for the codeine,” Nozicka said.

Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands noted that Marquez has a history of crimes, including cases that date back to 2006, plus convictions of drug possession, one of which included intent to deliver marijuana.

Marquez still faces more charges -- burglary, theft, possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, trespassing and criminal mischief, levied by Sheriff’s deputies after a pickup load of items were taken March 9 from ABC Auto Salvage.

According to a sheriff’s spokesman, Marquez and Shawn Reese are believed to have worked from 3:30–6:30 a.m. inside the salvage yard, using ABC trucks to shuttle batteries, tires and metals to their pickup parked outside at the fence. They were arrested later that morning when their pickup was found parked at a North Platte residence. The two men were inside.

Alexander

Latonya Tyan, aka Latonya Campbell and Latonya Alexander, 39, of North Platte was sentenced to 180 days jail for possession of hydrocodone.

On Jan. 27, Campbell was stopped for not having working headlights or a license plate on her vehicle. A search turned up a small amount of hydrocodone.

Alexander waived her preliminary hearing and pled guilty.

“You have a recommendation from the county attorney and the amount of drugs was very small so I will go along with the county attorney’s suggestion of 180 days,” Rowlands said.

Alexander received credit for the 17 days that she spent in jail when she was arrested.

Lee

Brenda Lee, 39, of North Platte was sentenced to 90 days jail, with credit for 42 days, on amended charges of driving under suspension and domestic assault, first offense.

In a plea deal with the County Attorney’s Office, Lee waived her preliminary hearing and pled guilty. The deal included dropping charges of theft and failure to appear.

Lee has already served from 1-1/2 to 3 years in prison for felony drunken driving, a sentence that was handed down in February 2011.
