5-K race calls on superheroesTell North Platte what you think

Every child needs a hero, but abused and neglected children need a superhero.

To bring awareness to the needs of abused and neglected children, the Lincoln County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will host a “Superhero” 5-kilometer run on Saturday, April 13.

Lincoln County CASA advocates, supports, and promotes court-appointed volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children, striving to secure a safe and permanent home for each child.

Proceeds from the 5-K will benefit the CASA program and recruitment and training of CASA volunteers who provide a "voice" to abused and neglected children.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month.

“You can support our program by becoming a sponsor of our race and/or participating in the race itself,” organizers said.

“So grab your cape, mask, and running shoes - then join us April 13th at Iron Horse Park,” the announcement said. “Be a hero to a child in need.”

Registration for the race will be at 8 a.m. The race starts at 9 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee. There will be kid's activities and a family mile run.

The race is part of the Platte River Fitness Series. Register online HERE.
