2 a.m. fireworks scare North Platte residentsTell North Platte what you think

A series of loud pops in the wee hours Sunday morning jolted North Platte residents awake near downtown.

The firecrackers went off about 2 a.m. and lasted a couple minutes, according to three separate reports to the Bulletin.

“I thought they might be gunshots,” a man who asked to remain anonymous said. “I got up and looked out, but I couldn’t tell where they came from.”

Police investigated and found spent fireworks outside the Coors Distributing building at 642 North Willow, beneath the overpass, a police spokesman said.

Police have not found the suspects.
