Pickup rolls over, occupants disappear (UPDATED) Tell North Platte what you think

Police have solved the riddle of missing occupants in a pickup that rolled over Saturday evening near the corner of Seventh and Adams on the north side of town.

The pickup was westbound on Seventh around 7 p.m. when the driver lost control turning onto Adams.

Police say the pickup fishtailed. The driver evidently overcorrected and the pickup rolled over on its top. The driver and passengers escaped by breaking out the side window and crawling through.

Police believed there were three occupants and suspect alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.

In an updated report Monday, the driver of the truck was identified as John L. Young Jr., who said he just lost control when going around the corner and rolled the truck.

Young was cited for no proof of insurance, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.

No injuries were reported. The 1985 Chevy K10 pickup was totaled.

If you have information you can call Crimestoppers at 534-8400 or submit a tip online by clicking HERE.

This report was updated at 9:30 p.m. Monday.
