Alexis Menghini won both the pole vault and the long jump Saturday and Caleb Dodge pickup up a first, third and fourth place in the University of Nebraska-Kearney Indoor track and field meet.
Kearney easily won the meet in both boys and the girls divisions.
The Bulldogs finished fourth and the Lady Bulldogs were sixth out of seven teams.
Dodge won the triple jump (41 feet, 8.5 inches) for the boys and was third in the 55 meter hurdles (8.13), and he finished fourth in the long jump.
In the 55 meter hurdles, Dodge first ran fourth in the preliminaries, but he cut 0.15 seconds from his preliminary time to climb to third in the finals.
Menghini vaulted 11 feet. That was six inches higher than runner-up Lizzy Stanton of Papillion LaVista South.
Menghini stretched to 16 feet, 9 and a half inches in the long jump, two inches better than Kelsey Wiemers of Kearney.
Other than that, North Platte teams managed to score in several events, but it was a less than impressive team performance in the early season meet. North Platte girls coach Dennis Fornander said his team is working through some injuries.
In the boys distances, Junior Wyatt McGuire finished third in the mile run with a time of 4:42.97 and Ace Haws was fourth in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:27.12.
McGuire came within 8 seconds of first place, but Tim Smith of Kearney won the 3200 meters going away with a time of 9:36.77.
Freshman Madison Raska served notice that she is a force to be reckoned with. Raska ran to third place in the 55 yard dash (7.80) behind Hannah Shield of Lincoln SW (7:68) and Chelsea Cotton (7:69) of Papillion LaVista South.
The North Platte boys finished 3-4 in the long jump. Sophomore Jacob Zimbelman was third (20 feet, 7.5 inches) and Caleb Dodge was right behind (20 feet, 6.5 inches).
Other North Platte scores:
Junior Catelyn Lee was 6th in the triple jump (31 feet, 8 and a half inches). Lee was 7th in the 55 meter hurdles just out of the point standings.
Kaitlynn Harvey was 5th in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 7.25 inches.
Freshman Hope Wilke was 5th in the shot put (33 feet, 3 inches).
Junior Tessa Howitt was 5th in the discus with at toss of 95 feet, 2 inches.
Grant Hoschler, 5th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24:77.
Marcus Miller was 6th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.63.
