Fire department collision, Rodeo RoadTell North Platte what you think
 

A North Platte man said he didn’t see or hear the lights or siren of a fire department sport utility vehicle Wednesday night before he ran into it.

The two vehicles collided in the main intersection of N. Jeffers and Rodeo Road.

The SUV, driven by Dave Heitman, was headed north on Jeffers/U.S. 83 with its emergency lights and sirens on, according to the police report.

Robert JD Basile, 21, was driving east toward his house in his when he drove across the intersection and smacked into the rear driver’s side of the fire truck.

Both drivers told police that they didn’t see the other coming.

The wreck occurred around 8 p.m. No one was injured.

Basile lives in the 1200 block of East 12th. His 1999 Chevy Malibu was totaled and the fire truck sustained about $3,000 in damages, the report said.
