The Gatorade bath is one of the more treasured practices in sport, but gallons of liquid and hard basketball courts don't mix. The North Platte Community College women’s basketball team turned the traditional Gatorade bath into an act of comedy Sunday. The upstart Lady Knights basketball team had just beat Dakota College-at-Bottineau, N.D. 64-40 in North Platte to win a seat in the national tournament. When some team members threw Gatorade at Head Coach Richard Thurin, he took a tumble. So did a fan that stepped out to help Thurin. Neither Thurin nor his puddle-slipping pal were hurt and everyone is said to have had a good laugh about it. Thurin saluted his team for team effort and the strong finish to the season. Thurin's granddaughter put the clip on YouTube, and that clip has gone national. It was published Tuesday in the college news section of the national Huffington Post, with links to several other sports pratfalls through the years. Just goes to show that even champs are human. The short video clip is at lower right on the Bulletin's front page.
