A North Platte man allegedly fired a shotgun at a woman in a house on North Willow early Monday morning.

It was a busy weekend for law officers. Police made two arrests for attempted murders and sheriff's deputies rounded up suspects after a major burglary of a salvage yard.

The second attempted murder was reported around 1:40 a.m. Monday, when police went to the 400 block of N. Willow on a report of a disturbance involving a firearm, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

When they arrived, a 37-year-old woman said that Miguel J. Fernandez, 25, fired a shotgun at her inside the home, following an argument.

The woman was not injured but she "was in close proximity to the blast," Brown said.

Following the investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Fernandez for attempted second-degree homicide and discharge of a firearm at a person.

Fernandez was transported and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Fernandez was the second North Platte man charged with attempted murder during the weekend, following a man who drove a pickup through the front of a restaurant and hit another man early Sunday morning.
