Donald E. Garrick was arrested Sunday after he hit a power pole with his car west of North Platte on U.S. Highway 30.

Garrick, 61, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove off the highway near the Front Road (aka Birdwood) intersection around 4 p.m. and hit the pole, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Garrick allegedly tried to leave the scene of the wreck, earning him another charge. He was jailed and held on a $7,500 bond.
