The Region IX Champion North Platte Community College Lady Knights women’s basketball team (15-14) won the Division II District F Sunday to advance to the national tournament The Lady Knights defeated the Region XIII Champion, Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks, 64-40. The Lady Knights raced out to 30-16 halftime lead and never looked back. In the first half, the Lady Knights shot 38 percent from the field while holding the Ladyjacks to 29 percent shooting. The difference in the game was offensive rebounding and turnovers as the Lady Knights had 14 offensive rebounds to the Ladyjacks four and committed only six turnovers to 10 for the Ladyjacks (12-20). This led to the Lady Knights attempting 64 shots to only 41 for the Ladyjacks. The Lady Knights were led by Paige Hasty and DeVontaye Merritt. Hasty led all scorers with 20 points. Merritt had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Dickerson also had a big game as she chipped in eight points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out four assists. The Ladyjacks were led by Jackie Miller who had 15 points. With the victory, the Lady Knights advance to the national tournament in East Peoria, Ill. at Illinois Central College on March 19-23.
