The North Platte Art Gallery is hosting the 2013 Association of Nebraska Art Clubs traveling show from March 5 through March 23.

The annual ANAC Show is comprised of works of art from 43 art clubs across Nebraska.

“Nebraska is unique in having the only organization in the United States that encompasses art clubs throughout the state,” says ANAC President Julie Lemons (Lincoln Artists’ Guild).

North Platte Art Guild members Virginia Clark and DeDe Hill from the North Platte Art Guild are two of the twenty-five artists that received Awards of Excellence at the 2013 ANAC Conference, and have pieces traveling.

The Best of Show was won by Tina Simeon of the Art Society of Ogallala for her pencil drawing.

This year's judge was Paul Leveille, a nationally known artist, workshop instructor and author from Massachusetts.

Established in 1965, the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC) hosts an annual conference where artists from large and small communities across Nebraska gather to participate in workshops and display their best art in a state show.

A nationally-known artist is selected to judge the over 350 plus pieces of art and select the 25 pieces that will become the traveling show. These award winning art works travel throughout Nebraska the following 12 months, giving people across the state an opportunity to view the show.

These award winning art works are on display downtown at the Art and Gift Gallery at 516 North Dewey from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Also the area high school art show is on display during March.
