Snowpack accumulation in the Platte River basins in the Rocky Mountains improved during February, reaching 66-79 percent of normal for this time of year.

Corey Steinke, an engineer for Central Public Power and Irrigation District, said Monday that snowpack is 79 percent of normal in the Upper Platte River basin, 66 percent in the Lower North Platte Basin, and 73 percent in the South Platte Basin.

A month ago, those numbers were 76, 29 and 61 percent, respectively, Steinke said on Feb. 4.

Lake McConaughy is currently at 64 percent of capacity.

Recent inflows have been about 1,000 cubic feet per second, or 86 percent of normal, Steinke said.
