Some men in a dark blue South Dakota car threatened another man Sunday near the Kwik Stop at Fourth and Poplar in North Platte, prompting police to search for and find the car.

The alleged victim said that five men in a Buick with South Dakota plates made threats towards him and chased him in their car after he drove away, Police Information Officer Rodney Brown said.

Police found the Buick at 9:15 p.m. near 11th and Cottonwood and stopped it to investigate.

They found the driver was Robin Dennis, 29, and two passengers in the car -- Aaron Clark, 24 and Keith Phelps, 45, all from North Platte, Brown said.

An officer saw drug paraphernalia inside the car, so the car and the men were searched, which turned up nearly $2,500 in cash, an undisclosed number of small baggies containing suspected methamphetamine, a .45 caliber handgun and ammunition, plus more drug paraphernalia.

The three men are convicted felons. They all denied ownership of the gun, Brown said.

All three were arrested, each charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm by a felon. Each man was also charged with having firearms as well as money with the drugs, so they each have four charges, all felonies.

In court Monday, Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull set each bond at $150,000. Each defendant asked asked for a public defender.

Dennis has a long history of arrests in Lincoln County. He has been jailed 10 times since 2004 charged with such crimes as theft, probation violation and driving offenses.

In 2004 at age 18, he was charged with assault and possession of a concealed weapon.

Clark also has a long history, with nine arrests since 2008, four on meth charges.

It was Phelps' first arrest in Lincoln County, according to sheriff's records. He has prior arrests in other states as well as in Nebraska, Brown said.
