The North Platte club swimming team, Greater Nebraska Swim Team, has six state-championship meet qualifers who competed during the weekend in Omaha, March 1-3.

Swimmers worked toward this meet since early September. At the meet, they competed against hundreds of other athletes from Nebraska and Western Iowa, head coach Archie Heffernan said.

"The swim meet went well, with lots of personal best times for the kids," Heffernan said.

The 11-12 boys (Montana Heffernan and Zane Leibhart) faired particularly well, with Montana coming home with four top six finishes in indivudual events and two third place relay medals.

Liebhart earned seven top eight awards in individual events plus two third place relays medals as well.

The swim club summer season starts in May, Heffernan said.
