The North Platte Community College will have a silent auction for surplus computers from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, in the student lounge on the north campus. Approximately 36 desktop and laptop computers, including Gateway, Apple iMacs, and Dell brands, will be available. The Gateway laptops and Dell desktops will be loaded with the Microsoft XP Professional operating system. The Apple iMacs will have an OSX version operating system. Other items up for auction include a scanner, printers, fax machines and Elmos. Each computer will have a specification sheet attached to it. Each of the computers was in working condition when pulled out of service and there is no warranty or guarantee to their functional condition or operation. There will be a minimum bid of $40 on each system. When people arrive Thursday they will register, pick up a number and write their number and bid beside any item the choose. They can come back throughout the day to see if they have been outbid. At 4 p.m. all bid sheets will be picked up and whoever has the highest bid will be notified.
