McCOOK-The North Platte St. Pat's boys' basketball team ended Hershey's season on Tuesday night, beating the Panthers 45-27 in the subdistrict semifinals.
The Irish (20-3) scored the first eight points of the game and never really looked back. However, Hershey played solid enough on defense to keep St. Pat's from running away with the game in the first half.
The Panthers trailed at halftime by a score of 20-10 and they stayed within around the 10-point mark for much of the third quarter.
But as the third wound down, St. Pat's started to pull away a little as the score was 32-18 going into the fourth quarter. The Irish lead expanded in the final quarter and St. Pat's was able to put Hershey away.
Mark Mayfield led St. Pat's with a game-high 24 points and Joseph Clinch scored 12 points.
Senior Josh Connell led the Panthers with nine points in his final game. Hershey finishes with a record of 8-16.
