OMAHA-Aaron Houser of North Platte High School and Dylan Gage of Maxwell finished in third place on Saturday in the final day of the Nebraska State Wrestling Meet. Houser pinned Alex Schriner of Lincoln Pius X in the first period of the third place match at 120-pounds to finish the season. On Thursday, Houser won both of his matches in the first round and quarterfinals to make Friday's semifinals. In the semis, Houser lost 4-0 to eventual state champion Dante Rodriguez of Grand Island. But he rebounded and won his consolation semifinals match to wrestle Schriner for third place. Houser was one of four North Platte wrestlers to medal at state. Grant Holscher finished in fourth place at 170 after losing to Jacobi Jones of Omaha North 3-2 in the third-place match. Paul Kraye finished in fifth place at 138 by beating Reggie Holt-Wesley of Omaha North 2-0 in his final match. Jonah Navarrette was sixth at 113 pounds losing 8-0 to John Mottl of Grand Island in the fifth-place match. In Class D, Gage won the third place match at 195-pounds by pinning Superior's Levi Smith early in the second period. The night before, Gage just missed out on wrestling for the state championship. In his semifinal match with Caleb Lieneman of Winside, Lieneman won the match 4-3 on an ultimate tie-breaker. Ethan Lunkwitz also medaled for Maxwell. He beat Joey Johnson of Hay Springs 12-6 in the fifth-place match at 132 pounds. Sutherland's Chandler Tyan also finished fifth after beating Freeman's Brian Nieveen 8-5 in the fifth-place match. Tucker Hicks of Hershey finished in sixth place in Class C. In the fifth place match at 106 pounds, he lost 5-2 to Drew Gilliland of Mitchell.
