George Dyer, an internationally acclaimed tenor who has performed in operas, musicals, and concerts across America and around the world, will give a concert on Feb. 18 in North Platte. Dyer will appear at 7:30 p.m. downtown at the Neville Center for the Performing Arts, Fifth and Bailey. This is the third concert in the 2012-2013 series sponsored by the North Platte Concert Association. Highlights of his show will include Broadway songs such as gOh, What a Beautiful Morningh from Oklahoma, gImpossible Dreamh from the Man of La Mancha, gBring Him Homeh from Les Miserables, and gMusic of the Nighth from Phantom of the Opera. Also he will sing favorites like gGranada;h gVolareh and gBe My Loveh and gNessun Dormah from Puccinifs opera, Turandot. He will be accompanied by an award-winning three-piece band. According to his publicity, he sings a variety of musical genres including Broadway hits, popular ballads, operatic favorites, oldies, and gospel. Corporate sponsors of the concert are Great Plains Regional Medical Center and Family Medicine Associates. Dyer received rave reviews at his professional debut in 1996 in H.M.S. Pinafore with the New York City Opera. Since then, he has performed as a soloist with the Mormon Choir and several opera companies. Dyer filmed two live made-for-TV concerts in Jerusalem for acclaimed composer Lex de Azevedofs Oratorios entitled gGloria: The Life of Christ-part 1 and gHosanna: The Life of Christ-part 3.h Also he sang a similar concert in Salt Lake City. In the fall of 2009, gThe George Dyer Showh opened in Branson, Mo. at the Dutton Family Theater. In 2010 it was nominated for 11 show awards, including gBest New Showh and Dyer was awarded gMale Vocalist of the Yearh and gBest Male Vocalist.h Critics and fans have described Dyerfs voice as powerful, rich, clear and silken. In 2001, 2004, and 2006, he was named gBest Male Soloisth by the Faith Centered Music Association.
Upcoming There are two more concerts in this seasonfs community concert series. On Tuesday, March 19, the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra will perform, and on April 30, the Abbey Road Band will play Beatles music. Admission to the concert is with membership in the North Platte Concert Association.
